Our next Study Day - A Crafty Day There will be 'A Crafty Day' on Wednesday 2nd December 2026at Hemingford Village Hall. We are welcoming back Kay Goddard to give her talk “Life on the Cut” about the history of Britain’s canals, the women who worked them and the art and craft they produced. Kay is herself now living on a narrow boat. Last year, she gave us an intriguing talk on how patchwork was used to give information to runaway slaves about safe routes to freedom (Our Study Day on 'The Underground Railroad'). The talk will be followed by a soup and cheese lunch. The cost is £22 per person. The afternoon offers an opportunity for those who wish to stay on to use their own creativity. Our own “Artist in Residence" Elaine Clarkson will lead a session on creating your own winter scene in paint, which could be the basis of your personal Christmas card. There will also be available Christmas-based wood blocks and paint for a different method. There will be an extra charge of £6 for the afternoon, to cover expenses. Please register your interest to Carole Pook at the lecture on 14th October. |
